Gurugram/ Jaipur, 22nd August 2025.
Safexpress, in collaboration with Smart Freight Centre India (SFC India), has launched its first electric vehicle (EV) pilot focused on long-haul operations along one of India’s busiest freight corridors – Delhi to Jaipur. This initiative marks a decisive step in Safexpress’ long-term commitment to decarbonising logistics and achieving Net Zero emissions by 2047.
The long-haul pilot run, which began at Safexpress’ Logistics Park-Delhi,and concluded at itsLogistics Park-Jaipur, featured live loading, en-route charging and unloading of the EV. The full journey was professionally documented to capture operational realities and practical insights into electrifying long-haul freight movement.
This pilot run will be used to evaluate vehicle performance, charging efficiency, emissions reduction, operational costs, and will be consolidated into a formal report, which will provide vital insights for shaping future policies and industry practices around green logistics mobility in India.
The pilot run not only tested the technical and operational feasibility of transitioning from Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles to EVsfor long-haullogistics but also showcased Safexpress’ leadership in driving sustainable change across supply chains.
Having implemented EV pilots across its first-mile and last-mile routes, Safexpress is now extending this transition to long-haul routes. With multiple pilots underway across diverse corridors, the larger vision remains to gradually transition the entire fleet to zero-emission vehicles.
Commenting on the launch, Rubal Jain, Managing Director, Safexpress, said “At Safexpress, sustainability is at the heart of our operations. This long-haul electric truck pilot is a concrete step towards our vision of achieving Net Zero by 2047. The ever-busy Delhi–Jaipur corridor was chosen for its strategic importance, and the learnings from this initiative will guide our larger transition to green logistics.”
Sanya Shahi, Senior Manager – Programs & Partnerships, Smart Freight Centre India, said “We are proud to partner with Safexpress in this pioneering pilot EV initiative for long-haul routes. By monitoring the operational performance and real-world data of this pilot, we aim to provide actionable insights that will inform industry adoption and national policy on sustainable freight.”
The insights and learnings from this Delhi–Jaipur long-haul pilot will be formally showcased before senior policymakers, industry leaders, and other key stakeholders to discuss the challenges, and chart recommendations for accelerating India’s shift towards sustainable freight transportation.
