Shilang,, Divya rasthra/ A delegation of 24 youths from 12 districts of Meghalaya is representing the state at the International Exposure Youth Programme in Jakarta, and Bali, Indonesia, being held from February 16 to February 22, 2025. The programme is a prestigious international forum for young minds focusing on cultural exchange, leadership and collaboration at the international level. The delegation was flagged off on February 14, 2025, marking the beginning of their enriching journey after being selected from a pool of 600 youths across 12 districts of the state. They are being accompanied by Shri Bobby Wahlang, Youth Programme Coordinator, Smti Darlene M. Khonglam, Sports Officer (HQs), Smti Barbira Momin, DSO and Smti Beltish Sangma, PTI.
The youths also participated in a cultural programme and interaction with Indonesian youths at the Don Bosco Institute, Jakarta on February 19 as part of the exchange programme. The event became an avenue for meaningful discussions and cross-cultural learning, thus strengthening ties between two nations.
On February 20, the delegation toured the National Museum, National Monument, Cathedral of Jakarta, bird sanctuary, Space Centre and small-scale industries in Jakarta to explore historical and cultural sites. This visit exposed the youths to Indonesia’s rich heritage, technological advancements and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
They are currently in Bali, where they are set to visit the famous Kintamani volcano, herbal tea plantations, and various other National Monuments, further deepening their understanding of the diversified landscape and cultural richness of Indonesia.
For the fourth time, Meghalaya has participated in this international programme which started in 2015 to provide young students with the opportunity to attain national and international exposure.
The International Exposure Youth Programme provides a unique opportunity for the youth from Meghalaya in acquiring global exposure, build leadership skills, and foster friendships. The experience and insights they will gain will contribute significantly to their personal growth and roles as future leaders of Meghalaya and the country.
