Rajinder Singh (BPCL) awarded Man-Of-The-Match for his outstanding contribution for 65 runs in 82 balls
Jaipur : The 29th PSPB Inter-Unit Seniors’ Cricket Tournament 2025–26 commenced today at the Jaipuria Cricket Academy, Jaipur, with nine teams from the Member Oil Companies of the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) competing for the prestigious championship title to be decided on 15th December 2025. The tournament is being hosted by GAIL (India) Limited.
The opening ceremony was held in the presence of Ayush Gupta, Director (HR), GAIL (India) Limited, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was joined on the dias by Anoop Gupta, Executive Director (CSR), GAIL (India) Limited), Sanjay Chauhan, CGM (O&M), GAIL Jaipur, Dr. R.S. Velmurugan, CGM (HR), GAIL (India) Limited, and Ms. Sabeena Chowdhary, Member Secretary, PSPB.
In his inaugural address, Ayush Gupta extended a warm welcome to all participating teams and conveyed his best wishes for their performance in the tournament. He highlighted GAIL’s ongoing commitment to nurturing sporting talent across the country, emphasizing initiatives that empower young athletes through guidance and inspiration from senior sports professionals. Shri Gupta also commended the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board for its continued efforts to promote sports nationwide.
Ms. Sabeena Chowdhary, Member Secretary, PSPB, expressed her gratitude to all member companies for their enthusiastic participation. She also appreciated GAIL (India) Limited for their exemplary arrangements and successful hosting of the tournament in Jaipur.
Marking the formal commencement of the event, Shri Ayush Gupta played the opening shot, declaring the tournament officially open.
The first match of the day was between Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) vs. GAIL (India) Limited where BPCL won the match scoring 140 runs in 20 overs, while chasing the target of 141, GAIL (India) Limited scored only 114 losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Rajinder Singh from BPCL was given man-of-the-match award for his score of 65 runs in 82 balls.
In the second match between HPCL and ONGC Limited, the team HPCL scored 184 runs at the cost of 5 wickets in 20 overs and curtailed team ONGC on 161 taking 6 wickets to win the match. The opener Prasad Bole from HPCL was awarded as the Man of the Match.
Tomorrow the matches will be played between GAIL vs MRPL, IOCL vs NRL and HPCL vs EIL.
