
JAGS 28th Edition Sets New Benchmarks with the Theme “Gemstone is the New Gold.”
Jaipur, Divya rasthra*— The 28th Edition of the Jewellers Association Gemstone Show (JAGS) also known as the ‘Tucson Show of India’ was inaugurated today at the Rajasthan International Centre, Jaipur, with great enthusiasm and strong industry participation. The one-day show, promoted under the theme “Gemstone is the New Gold,” brought together gemstone traders, jewellers, artisans, exhibitors, and buyers to celebrate Jaipur’s enduring legacy as a global gemstone hub.
The opening ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Sudhir Kasliwal, a renowned jeweller and respected industry person, joined by Jewellers Association President, Shri Alok Sonkhiya, Hon. Secretary Shri Neeraj Lunawat, Convenor JAGS Shri Abhishek Sand, Past Presidents, and Jewellers Association members. The inauguration began with the monumental ribbon-cutting, traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. The official poster and show guide for JAGS 2025 were also launched, marking the formal commencement of this much-awaited rough & cut gemstone show.

Jewellers Association Jaipur’s Honorary Secretary, Shri Neeraj Lunawat extended a warm greeting to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, and exhibitors. He highlighted the long-standing contribution of the Jewellers Association, including initiatives like Janopyogi Bhawan and the Youth Wing of JA, which aims to empower the next generation of jewellers. He also emphasized the expanded scale of this year’s show, with 166 booths and over 500 varieties of natural gemstones on display.
A key announcement at the event was the launch of a new KYC Scheme. The scheme is designed to serve as a centralized point of information for future generations and aimed at creating a verified and transparent database of all traders, brokers and industry participants.
Mr. Alok Sonkhiya, President Jewellers Association Jaipur, unveiled the KYC form, calling it a progressive step for the industry.
Mr. Abhisand Sand, Convenor-JAGS, presented the official brand campaign film that beautifully captured the evolution of gemstone trade in Jaipur, from the narrow lanes of Johri Bazaar, Pahadganj, Gandi Gali, and Nawabganj to the modern, organized gemstone hubs like Sitapura that define Jaipur today. It also showcased the role of bloggers, and media collaborations in expanding the show’s global footprint.
In his keynote address, Chief Guest Mr. Sudhir Kasliwal praised Jaipur’s unmatched contribution to India’s colored gemstone history. He noted that the first colored stone cut and polished in Jaipur was garnet, with emeralds later becoming the city’s hallmark. He expressed confidence that JAGS would continue to grow and evolve into the Tucson of India — a world-class gemstone show that sets benchmarks for quality and trade excellence.
The Chief Guest toured the exhibition, exploring the Rough Stones Hall and two Cut Stones Hall. He interacted with exhibitors, appreciated the craftsmanship, and commended the wide range of gemstones showcased by Jaipur’s leading gemstone houses.
