Global Experts Convene to Strengthen Safety, Sustainability and Economic Efficiency through Corrosion Prevention
Industry, Academia, and Defence Leaders Unite as AMPP Advances Its Vision of a ‘Safer, Protected, and Sustainable World‘
Jaipur, October 6, 2025: Asia’s largest Corrosion Science and Engineering Conference & Expo ‘CORCON 2025’ was inaugurated in JECC Jaipur, marking the beginning of a three-day global gathering dedicated to advancing corrosion prevention, sustainable infrastructure and materials protection.
Organized by the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) India Chapter, the conference has drawn participation from over 900 delegates and 100 exhibiting companies from India and around the world.
The event brings together leading scientists, researchers, industry experts, and representatives from sectors such as defence, energy, oil & gas, petrochemicals, renewables and infrastructure creating a global platform for collaboration, innovation and knowledge exchange.
Global Participation and Technical Deliberations
Over the next three days, CORCON 2025 will host technical sessions, round-table conferences, defence workshops, and interactive forums focused on diverse industrial sectors including oil & gas, fertilizers, refineries, water treatment, nuclear energy, marine structures and infrastructure protection. The event will also feature international speakers and industry leaders who will share insights on the latest corrosion control technologies, research breakthroughs, and global best practices.
Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Dipen Jhaveri, Chairman, AMPP India Chapter said: “CORCON 2025 embodies AMPP’s vision of a safer, protected, and sustainable world. By uniting industry, academia and defence on one platform, we aim to drive innovation and build resilient infrastructure across India and beyond.”
The Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) is Asia’s largest organization dedicated to corrosion control and protective coatings with more than 40,000 members worldwide. Since its inception in 1992, the AMPP India Chapter has played a pioneering role in advancing corrosion awareness, innovation, and industry collaboration across sectors.
India’s Corrosion Challenge
According to the IMPACT Report (2016) by NACE International, corrosion costs the global economy around 3.4% of the world’s GDP (USD 2.5 trillion annually). In India, losses due to corrosion are estimated at 4% of GDP (approximately USD 85 billion or ₹5.5 lakh crore per year). However, adopting effective corrosion control measures can reduce this burden by 15-35%, enhancing safety, sustainability, and asset longevity.
Significance of CORCON 2025
CORCON 2025 serves as a key platform for collaboration between industry stakeholders, research institutions, public and private enterprises, and defence establishments. The event showcases cutting-edge technologies, innovations and sustainable solutions, while fostering global partnerships and positioning India as a rising hub for materials protection and sustainable infrastructure innovation.
